Today Boo is for Boobies

Today BOO is for BOObies!!! Today is one of my favorite days! If you are 5 or 45 or 105 you get to forget your worries (many or few) and indulge your imagination. This year the day whose origin celebrates the dearly departed has even more meaning. This year, it’s also the last day in October, breast cancer awareness month. In 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time.  In 2016 I am currently in treatment so that I can become a survivor for a second time.  As scary as I thought Freddy Kreuger was when I was 8, little did I know that I would become part of the 1 in 8.

One in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. About 40,450 will be celebrated as dearly departed. Today, on Halloween 2016, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I want to celebrate survivors, those we’ve lost, and those in the fight.

My Twist on Cancer is:

Like I said, “Today, BOO is for BOObies!” My call to action challenges loved ones around the globe to find their inner childhood spirit!  Put on your best costume and let’s celebrate Halloween together!  Post a picture so we can all smile, laugh, and remember that no matter what we are struggling through we can do it by putting on a brave face!

My twist on cancer won’t stop here!  Don’t you worry – I’m just getting started! J

Hopefully you’ll learn something new about breast cancer and tell a friend. It may spark you to get the mammogram you’ve been putting off. Mostly, it should help you to not be afraid to ask questions. Maybe you’ll do a walk this year, or make a donation, or maybe when you see the color pink, it will have a little more meaning.
