DESCRIPTION:Wayne State Brushes with Cancer Art Exhibition \nWhen: May 19\, 2023-June 15\, 2023 \nWhere: Wayne State University Art Department Gallery in the Community Arts Building – 5400 Reuther Mall\, Detroit\, MI 48202 \nThe program features 17 Artists from Wayne State’s Art\, Art History\, Art Education\, and Art Therapy departments. This includes students\, alumni\, and staff artists who were matched with anyone touched by cancer – previvors\, survivors\, and caregivers – from around the country. After getting to know each other over the past few months\, each artist created a unique piece of artwork to represent their Inspiration’s personal journey with cancer. The artwork will be on display from Thursday\, May 18 through Thursday\, June 15 at Wayne State’s Art Department Gallery\, located in the Community Arts Building\, 5400 Reuther Mall\, in Detroit.

This 60 minute group will focus on promoting the use of creative arts therapy as a tool for self-care for caregivers. We understand the important role caregivers have in their loved ones lives\, and we want to spend the evening celebrating them! This group will introduce easy and fun ways to engage in non-clinical art therapy and will promote relaxation\, connection\, and camaraderie! \nThe Dragonfly Foundation is a 501c3 that supports pediatric cancer patients and their families at time of diagnosis\, throughout treatment\, and beyond. From fulfilling urgent requests to offering opportunities to connect and much\, much more in between\, Dragonfly’s mission is to offer courage\, strength\, and joy at a time when it is needed most. \nLearn more about the Dragonfly Foundation \nTwist Out Cancer is committed to offering our programming free of charge for cancer survivors\, patients\, caregivers and family members.
