Brushes with Cancer Program Details
Brushes with Cancer operates on a cyclical, year-round model designed to meet ongoing interest and demand. Each year, Twist Out Cancer hosts two programs open to the public: a fall program in Philadelphia and a winter program in Chicago. In addition, we license the Brushes with Cancer program to partner organizations to deliver customized Brushes with Cancer programs that scale nationally and internationally, extending the reach of the model to diverse communities and settings. Because these programs run on recurring cycles, we are continually accepting inquiries about upcoming opportunities.

Current 2026 Programs
Brushes with Cancer Fall 2026 has officially kicked off! This signature program pairs volunteer Artists with “Inspirations,” individuals touched by cancer, to create original works of art over several months of meaningful connection. Guided by the stories, experiences, and spirit of their Inspiration, each Artist brings a deeply personal piece to life.
Each pairing will culminate in a vibrant public art exhibition and celebration, where stories are shared, resilience is honored, and community is built through the transformative power of creative expression. Applications for this program are now closed.

2026 Colors of SM: Expressions of Life with Systemic Mastocytosis is in full swing! Presented in partnership with Blueprint Medicines, this licensed Brushes with Cancer program matches Artists with Inspirations affected by systemic mastocytosis, whose creative journeys together are illuminating the profound impacts of this rare condition through the transformative power of art.
2026 Brushes with Cancer at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is currently underway. This licensed Brushes with Cancer program brings Artist and Inspiration pairs together either in-person or virtually, culminating in an art exhibition and celebration at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida.
