Holiday Virtual Hangout with Unite for HER

Holiday Virtual Hangout with Unite for HER
Join Unite For HER this December for a holiday virtual hangout focused on connecting through art therapy and the significance of windows. This directive will be led by art therapist Jacqueline Carmody from Twist Out Cancer.
During the session, we will design personal window displays to express current reflections or memories of looking into or out of a window. Windows can represent a variety of metaphorical meanings, including:
- The boundary between the familiar and unknown, evoking potential, longing, and mystery.
- A pathway to the outside. Symbolizing freedom, exploration, escape, and adventure.
- A perspective. Acting as an entranceway or escape/release.
- A way to let light and fresh air in while keeping most of the outside out.
- A way to make a space feel less enclosed. Designed to make it feel more permeable.
- A metaphor for seeing.
To participate in this art therapy activity, you can draw inspiration from a real-world window you currently observe, whether in your home, office, or an everyday setting like a library, cafe, or hospital. Alternatively, you can reflect on meaningful memories—such as a past vacation, a former residence, holiday displays, or photographs of a window that holds special significance to you.
Suggested Materials:
