Twist on Cancer: This part of my journey has been life-changing. My artist, Noah Plotkin, and I made an immediate friendship that will continue after the Brushes with Cancer experience ends. We had numerous conversations about life and our shared passion for music. I have learned to cherish each day and to find happiness in the small things. My journey with cancer has made me see the things that are really important: family and friends who have been with me every step of the way. I have seen how sharing and connecting with other people can help me to heal. I will continue to fight the good fight with all my strength. Peace out!!!

Artist Statement : It has been a great honor to get to know my new friend, Jamie Dungey. Our conversations over the past five months have brought out stories of music wellness, traveling, kayaking, fishing, sporting events and an overall sense of well being. We have had great talks about life and travelling, and care taking for our loved ones at all walks of life. She is a true friend and someone I look forward to meeting in person someday.
I created a mixed-media piece of art for her that combined my passion of rhythmic and melodic music, using an instrument called a Hand Pan, along with various percussion instruments that all blend together into one. I also enlisted my father, Jonathan Plotkin, to create one of his digital animation masterpieces that was totally improvised with a couple elements I shared about Jamie’s interests that I know she holds very dear. Including her love for the Minnesota Vikings, The New Jersey Devils and her passion for fishing. I thought it would be appropriate to incorporate Jamie's voice, since she’s a Deacon at her church, reciting a couple of her favorite scriptures in the piece. I was able to collage her voice into my composition and my friend Elijah Aaron ( who lives in Tel Aviv) was able to mix and produce the whole composition into a nice, clean track. This was a wonderfully personal experience and I look forward to unveiling the final piece to Jamie on October 10 2021 at the virtual event!
