The Story
Yvonne Williams
Mesquite, TX
Survivor - Metastatic Breast Cancer
Twist on Cancer: My Twist on Cancer experience and journey started after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and recurrence in 2019. I have been through all the major treatments of breast cancer and will continue on treatment for the rest of my life. Thank God I do not look like what I have been through and going through!
My faith has kept me strong with a “keep pushing” attitude. Unknowingly, I have been an inspiration and encourager to many, either by action or words, because I trust God and the process.
I am reminded daily that life is short, and whatever you are going through, grow through it. My legacy is living my best life, that I am resilient, and breast cancer does not define me.

“Mitosis”
Acrylic
16” x 40”
$600
Artist Statement: Yvonne's journey started with mitosis (the cellular division process that causes cancer). The cells are represented on canvas, yet I wanted to represent the happiness and positivity that Yvonne displays each time we talk - therefore, I used the bright, joyful jewel tones to create those cells. Her strength is the inspiration for this piece.
